The Horror Show (1989)

September 16, 2014  /  Ken Rupracht

They tried to electrocute "Meat Cleaver" Max. It didn't work.

  • Got that old semi-corney feel to it.
  • At least one well acted character.
  • Family (at beginning) is quite believable.
  • Violence is a bit over the top in that old movie quality way (as in not super gross and gory - noticeable fake severed heads/arms).
  • Serial killer is scary enough, how about a ghost serial killer?

  • A couple of questions arise from the ending.
  • World's most useless shrink is useless.
Opinion

Worth a watch for that classy haunting monster kind of desire. Although the Nightmare on Elm Street series is arguably better done, it is in that same kind of vibe and the lead being a cop help makes it feel a little more threatening than when it's just a bunch of kids. Overall not a bad flick at all and would feel perfectly at home watching it on a dark and windy night at a drive-in, plus it's got Henriksen in it as a good sized draw.
