Logan (2017)
His time has come
- Action scenes.
- Plenty of character for a franchise that's been a bit wobbly on character quality.
- Well paced.
- Doesn't seem to require any other X-Men content to be able to follow*.
- Found a way to make the invulnerable guy vulnerable - I guess.
- Pretty good effects work.
- Actual plot itself isn't exactly unheard of.
- Alludes to past events that we don't see, could cause some to be a bit lost*.
- Villain is a bit week compared to hero's development.
Probably the best (serious) entry into the X-Men movie franchise at this point, although at the same time I suppose it's not really an entry into the franchise outside of containing characters from it, since far as I can tell it doesn't tie into the others at all anyways. This ties into the (*) asterisk marked bullet points as it's a bit of a double edged sword. Two of the big action scenes were an absolute blast to watch, including some nice longish tracking shots and even some vehicular stuff. Does a good job of honing in on trying to develop one character really well, but also in turn leaves a bit to be desired from "the enemy" in the process.
